Honeymoon!

I know I havent even blogged about the wedding yet but that is because I'm waiting on pictures so that I can include them! BUT I do have honeymoon pics so Im going to give you the dish on that!

Sunday after the wedding Luke and I got up (absolutely exhausted) and ate breakfast, packed and got on the road about 8:30 and headed to Ruidoso NM.
We arrived in Ruidoso around 2:30 and our cabin wasnt quite ready for us so we went in to Walmart to buy groceries and stuff that we needed. By the time we got back to the cabin (because Walmart had TWO checkers....thats IT) it was almost 5, and we decided sandiwiches were the best way to go for dinner. So we had sandwiches and beer on the patio as we watched dozens of deer meander by!

Lukes Alien Beer which is, btw, DISGUSTING

THe deck off of our cabin

Our sweet little cabin...LOVED it

First night in Ruidoso, so relaxing!

THe deer who greeted us our first afternoon

Monday we got up and decided to, after a good breakfast of eggs, bacon and King Cake ( hehe), go for a little drive, we found a historical drive through Lincoln County which talked about the Lincoln County Wars and Billy the kid. The wind was blowing really hard, but it was a really interesting little excursion!
Tuesday we went into town and shopped around, then decided to drive out to the Valley of FIres, which is a national park, in the middle of nowhere a 2,000 year old lava flow rock formation! Again the wind was blowing really hard and it was pretty darn cold, but it was a neat place that we'd like to visit again!

Wednesday was the first and last calm day of the week so that is the day we decided to go to White Sands National Monument! We got there it was almost 10:00 AM and they told us that they were shutting the park down at 10:50AM because the Air Force Base was doing a missile test and we couldnt be in the park during the test, But we had time to do the quick drive through, so we did that, then they kicked us out of the park. Well we decided to drive downt he highway a little bit and see if there was a roadside picnic area so we could eat the picnic lunch we'd brought along with us and maybe see the jets involved in the Missile tests. We didnt find one and decided to head BACK to the the Park visitor Center, well we had to go through the Border Patrol Check point....every care ahead of us is stopping, and Luke did NOT stop, the patrolmen started yelling "STOP!! STOP!!" and i thought, oh crap we're gonna get shot by a border patrolman in the middle of BFE New MExico 3 days after we get married...that'll make for a Newspaper Headline! :) But Luke stopped, the patrolman laughed his butt off at us and we went on through. Went back to the Visitor Center, waited for the park to re-open and when it did we went in, ate our picnic lunch and played in the sand for a while. Really is a cool place and definately want to go back there again!

Thursday we drove up the mountain, which was NOT Luke's favorite thing in the world as he is not a fan of heights, but even he could not deny the absolutely amazing views and beauty we got to see from 12,000 ft!!
Gorgeous! (again windy and chilly!)

Friday we packed up and checked out and headed home...We took a long route though because I wanted to go to the World's Largest Pistachio & winery!

Yes we bought pistachios AND Pomegranate wine ( which is WONDERFUL by the way!)
We also stopped at the worlds biggest RIP-OFF! THe UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell NM....dont ever waste your money...its not even cheesy and stupid...its plain BORING and NIOTHING

But it was an awesome week!We had a great time, got comepletely recovered from the weeks of exhaustion leading up to the wedding. We're feeling very blessed and very very happy to be married and back to life!

Day 5 - Favorite Quote

Okay this one I am having to get my brain going on....and its pretty early so thats a feat in and of itself! :)
So I was thinking of some ofmy favorite bible verses...
Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son..."
and so on and so on....

But what I kept coming back to is not really a QUOTE i suppose, but a passage....

Remember this? I love this...and every Christmas when i read it int he paper or hear it quoted on TV I tear up. I love the words...I love the spirit...I wante to share it with you :)

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Thankful

So I am on a journey. A journey back to who I should be...who I can be...who I used to be.
Today begins my "wedding week", in 5 days I will be a wife and I will have a husband. I am so happy and so elated that we are having a wedding in 5 days and that all of our friends and families will be here to support us and celebrate and show their love for us.
I am truly thankful.

I am thankful for a lot of things that I may not show gratitude for like I should, so I am going to blog about it and hope that people that matter read it :)

First and foremost I am so incredibly blessed with amazing parents. Mom and Dad have supported me in everything I've ever done in my life and continue to do so. They're so giving and loving and I can talk to them about anything and know I will get goo, solid, God oriented advice when I need it. I couldnt ask to have better role models. THey've had a solid marriage for almost 46 years, and there is no better marriage to model my own upcoming marriage after, in my opinion. I love them so much and they are why I am who I am, and I am proud of who I am, threfore I am incredibly proud of them. I"ll never be able to share with them or show them how thankful and gratefulI am for them. I just hope they know.

Luke. Luke came into my life in a time when I was at a breaking point. I prayed for Luke, and God sent him to me. I truly believe we were meant for each other, God just knew it needed to happen at the right moment, and it did. He has changed my life for the better, made me see love in a whole new light, I've gained patience and kindness through him. He is my soulmate, and I really do believe in that. I can't wait to be his wife.

My friends. I have a few friends whom I appreciate more than words could describe. Friends who have done things for me that I havent even asked of them. Friends who go above and beyond. Friends who, God sent to be a part of my life to learn from, love and be loved by. I dont know what I would do with out them. ANd I know that sometimes I am not the best friend in return, and for that I hope we have a LONG friendship for me to make up for :)

My job. I do not have my dream job by any means. I do not want to sit at my desk, out in the middle of the hallway, and type up drilling reports every day for the rest of my life. But I am SO thankful to have a job, and one that is as laid back as it is when it comes to time and other things. I may complain on occasin but I really am trying to get back to who I used to be, when I always saw the positive to every situation. and the most positive thing I can think of is, if I didnt have this job, financially we'd be in big trouble. So I thank God every day for giving me a job that provides for us, because not everyone is blessed in that way.

I am thankful to have the sense to know that the negativity I have been putting off lately is not who I am, or who I want to be. I am supposed to be the uplifter, the one who sees the rainbow before it appears in a thunderstorm. And I feel myself slowly getting back to that. Im trying to let the negativity bounce off of me and not be absorbed...:)
Im just trying to be happy! :) and I am happy so I should show it more!

I thank God for blessing me in so many countless ways. I hope you have thanked Him today!

Day 4 - Favorite Book

Hmmm...Well Im going to be "Cliche" i suppose and say my absolute favorite book of all time is (well there are two) "Little Women" and "To Kill a Mockinbird" those are two that I have read multiple times....

My guilty pleasure are Nicholaus Sparks books though :)

Well right now the only thing we REALLY watch is "Big Bang THeory" oh myg osh that show cracks me up! I want a "Sheldon" :) haha

But I am a HUGE fan of "Friends" and can watch it all day, I also loved "Seinfeld", "Yes Dear", the EARLY years of "The Cosby Show".

Day 1- Favorite Song

I have a lot of favorite songs...but there are a certain few that have stuck with me since childhood and I can attach to certain times of my life or happy memories.

"The Chair" - George Strait
I have ALWAYS loved this one sided song and always wanted a female country star to "finish" the song and give HER side of the conversation

"Wouldnt it be nice" - Beach Boys
I can picture me, tiny little thing (like 3) and in the car with my sister!

"Unforgettable" - Nat King Cole
I just think of my parents when I hear this. The dont listen to it or anything, but the words make me thing of my parents

My current favorite songs:

"Raise your glass" - Pink
I can RELATE to this one! LOOOOOVE it!

"F*** you!" - Ce-Lo
hahah this song just makes me HaPpY

"Marry Me"- Train
I get teary and chills everytime I hear it...its just a perfect wedding song and gettign married in a week Im sensitive to that!

"Whatever it is" & "Free" - Zak Brown Band
THis is the song that I relate to Luke and I the most..."whatever it is" we used to send the lyrics to each other via text :) and its kind of "our song"
"Free" is just somthing we relate to, "We dont got a lot of money, all we need is love" just perfect

Finally Friday randomness

We are 8 days away from the wedding! Can you believe that? ha!
We're so excited to have both of our families together and all of our friends all in one place at one time! :) And I cant wait to be Luke wife! I know that life after the wedding will not be a WHOLE lot different than it is now, but I'll be so proud to call him my husband! :)

We're praying hard this week for Lukes grandmother Lois and everyone in the family in Temple. She's having a rough time, she had a car accident and is hurting and her insurance stuff isnt working out and last I heard she went back in the hospital last night. Waiting on an update now, but really needs prayers and uplifting thoughts!

I've made the concious decision to be POSITIVE this next week, this is and should be a stressful time, but should also be a very joyous time too! Luke and I are celebrating our commiment to each other next week in a cermony to pledge to stand by each other for LIFE. Its a time to be happy and surround ourselves with positive people and things! We know that its not always possible for people to be happy-go-lucky, and not everyone has the "luxury" of being stress free ad positive, but right now, at this moment in the next 8 days I just want to have fun, enjoy our time, laugh and hang out with family and be EXCITED! So we're trying our best to be positive!
